Piano and Ukulele classes
at First PRESBYTERIAN Day School
601 Studios is pleased to offer piano and ukulele classes at FPDS for FPDS students!
These classes are provided by 601 Studios and classes will meet at FPDS. Payments will be made through the scheduling portal via auto-draft. In this same portal, parents will be able to see the schedule for classes, payment history, send comments to the teacher, and more! Students will participate in an end-of-term recital in the Spring to showcase what they’ve learned in their classes. All students must register for the entire school year.
Classes Offered:
Ukulele* ages 3-4: Mondays at 1:30pm
Ukulele* ages 5+: Mondays at 3:00pm
Piano grades 1-3: Mondays at 3:00pm
Piano grades 4-6: Thursdays at 3:00pm
*Ukulele students will need their own instruments for lessons. We have a partnership with Music & Arts at 1001 Sara Lane in Flowood MS to provide you with the best price possible for instruments. Please contact them for information on renting and/or purchasing instruments. Ukulele students should purchase a soprano ukulele.
*For piano students there is a $15 sign up fee, which covers the cost of your piano book.
WHO: FPDS Students ages 3-5+ for ukulele and grades 1-6 for piano
WHAT: Weekly Piano and Ukulele Class for the School Year. Classes will culminate with a recital to celebrate student progress!
WHEN: Classes begin September 9 and go through December. After Christmas, classes will resume at the end of January/beginning of February according to what the school calendar allows.
WHERE: FPDS, Room TBD
WHY: Music lessons are beneficial for students because they help develop musical skills and knowledge, enhance cognitive abilities such as memory and concentration, improve fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, foster creativity and self-expression, promote discipline and perseverance, and provide a foundation for future musical endeavors. Music lessons also open the door for future music-related opportunities.
HOW MUCH: $66.75/month ($19/class). You must be an enrolled student at FPDS. The first payment (1 0f 4) is due at sign up, and then charged on the 1st of the following 3 months beginning in September for Fall. For Spring you will be charged 4 payments on the first of each month beginning January 1.

The piano classes will be taught by the talented Mrs. Dasha Kolomiiets who received her master degree in Musical Arts and Theoretical Disciplines from National Pedagogical Dragomanov University in Kyiv, Ukraine. Additionally, Mrs. Kolomiiets has extensive piano teaching experience at the M.Glinka Music School No.13. Mrs. Kolomiiets lives in Jackson with her husband and three beautiful children.
The ukulele class for ages 5+ will be taught by the talented Mr. Jayme Etheridge. Mr. Jayme has been teaching and performing for over 20 years! He also teaches privately at 601 Studios, Music & Arts Academy and has become a student favorite among our teachers!
The ukulele class for ages 3-4 will be taught by the talented Mr. Chris Nash. Mr. Chris has been teaching and performing for over 15 years! He also teaches privately at 601 Studios, Music & Arts Academy and can often be seen (and heard!) performing all around Central Mississippi!
